How it can be enjoyed and combined

Like other products of exceptional quality (such as caviar or foie), the best way to enjoy a good Iberian ham is to taste it on its own, with no other foods that could interfere with its texture, aroma and taste. Its aroma and taste are best enjoyed at a temperature of around 18°C.

A dish of Iberian ham must contain between 80 and 100 grams of ham in short, thin slices, to satisfy the appetite and enable its qualities to be fully appreciated.

Despite the above, the custom of eating Iberian ham with bread or toast and with different wines is quite widespread.

It is traditional to eat Iberian ham with a glass of dry sherry or “manzanilla” wine, which add a range of aromas and tastes that go very well with the ham’s properties. Red wines and some white wines, as long as they are not too strong or acid, also go well with Iberian ham.

Jamones Merino offers you one recipe every month in which ham or Iberian pork products are used as the main ingredient.
